The United States has a long tradition of symbolic revolutionary flags. One of the more famous revolutionary flags is the Gadsden “Don’t Tread on Me” flag. The stark yellow background and the coiled snake is recognized by many as a symbol of freedom and unity. There are many recognized revolutionary flags from the past, to include the Betsy Ross Flag, the Son’s of Liberty Flag, and the Bunker Hill Flag. Though, different in design, they all have a one common thread. They all represented the will of the People to be free from tyranny and oppression.
As with the Revolutionary War, the People are once again fighting the loss of individual freedoms, government tyranny, and oppression. What we need today is a modern day Betsy Ross, a Mr. Ross, or a General Gadsden. So in the revolutionary flag tradition, the staff of New Republic 2018 Maps is starting a contest, in the hopes of selecting a “NEW” modern day revolutionary flag. A flag that symbolizes the steadfast determination it will take to separate, then form a NEW REPUBLIC through peaceful means.
