British Columbia and Cascadia
David Eby became the First Minister of British Columbia in 2022, following the resignation of John Norgan. Eby’s (NDP Party) was re-elected by a narrow majority in 2024. From a distance, Eby seems to favor China, and has halted any talk of Alberta oil flowing to the coast for export. When one looks at voting patterns, a majority of British Columbia still lean right-of-center, less the outer reached of Vancouver and the lower half of Vancouver Island.
British Columbia’s future remains muddled, but the power struggle is real! On one side you have the wealthy Vancouver multi-cultural Urbanites. Caught in the middle, are the BC First Nationers. Pulling up the rear, are the forgotten Rural natural resource communities. The (NR) British Columbia map separates the natural resource regions from Greater Vancouver and lower Vancouver Island. As history has shown, borders are fluid.
